Measure and center
The sensor sends groups of ten periods in microseconds. The app builds a time axis, finds the window's mean, and looks at each reading's deviation from it.
FROM CIRCUIT TO MUSIC / A REAL DEMONSTRATION
Explore five recordings from real plants. Follow their changing signal, watch waves approximate it, and hear five ways to turn a session into music.
01 / THE LAB
The line represents periods measured by the circuit; in dense stretches, the app groups readings for analysis. The plot is centered around the window's mean and uses time reconstructed from the periods.
The FFT explores the spectrum. Each bar shows the strongest magnitude in a frequency band; the selected waves are then fitted to the original readings.
Select a bar to see that wave join the reconstruction.
The difference left between the signal and its reconstruction is the residual.
02 / THE TRANSFORMATION
The sensor sends groups of ten periods in microseconds. The app builds a time axis, finds the window's mean, and looks at each reading's deviation from it.
An FFT on 2,048 interpolated positions proposes up to 32 candidate frequencies. The app then fits waves to the retained readings and adds up to eight, one by one.
The app combines the mean, variation, waves, and what remains unexplained. Each mood uses these features within its own rules for harmony, rhythm, timbre, and continuity.
The percentage measures the reduction in squared error on this same window. 95% and 80% are targets, not guaranteed results. The waves summarize circuit changes that the composer combines with each mood's rules.
03 / HEAR THE RESULT
Twenty-four-second excerpts generated by the app's music engine from a croton recording. Switch moods to hear how musical rules give the same kind of input a different character.
